YKK AP Future Window Project
Vol. 1: M.W. [‘muu’]

YKK AP, the company that thinks about windows, has collaborated with PARTY to start a “Future Window Project” that proposes concept models for the window of the future.

The first concept from the project is “window as component” — M.W. – Module Window. People tend to keep using the same windows for as long as they live. However, in the future, what if we could make windows that can be easily exchanged?

Each window would have unique functions such as adjusting lighting, cleaning the air, and functioning as a TV.

These windows could also be combined to suit various purposes. Thanks to these windows, in what ways will our future become more convenient?

BACKGROUND

Up until now, windows have been something that does not change once implemented into architectures.

No innovation for windows has happened in the past decades. YKK AP, a window manufacturer, thought of a new experience for users with windows in the future.

In the future, perhaps there will be a need for windows to transform from being unchanging to being updatable — windows as tools for users to customize as necessary.

From “construction materials” to “tools.” To change the world’s perception of windows, it was crucial to revolutionize inside as well as outside of YKK AP as a company.

WORKFLOW

M.W. is the abbreviation for “Module Window” as well as ” Multi-Window.” This window can be combined versatilely to perform various functions.

You can add accessories such as cameras and sensors to the window to add to its functions. The possibilities are as many as your ideas.
